CORE

BELIEFS

The following are the core beliefs of Greater Lighthouse based on the foundational truths taught in the bible.  All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in these biblical doctrines.

God

"Hear O Israel the Lord our God is one Lord." Deuteronomy 6:4

We believe that the Godhead is three-in-one. We believe Jesus is the name of the titles Father (creator), Son (savior), and Holy Spirit (indwelling spirit). Jesus Christ is God displayed in the flesh. He is both God and man.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Salvation

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. "
John 14:6

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us to God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. He was raised from the dead and now by grace offers eternal life as a free gift to all who follow Christ. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.

Water Baptism

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
John 3:5

Water baptism is a key component of salvation. Water baptism is an act of obedience identifying with Jesus in death to sin, burial of the old nature, and resurrection to new life. We are baptized for the remission of our sins. In being baptized Jesus washes our sins away and we are made new.

Holy Spirit

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall recieve the gift of the
Holy Ghost. "
Acts 2:38

The Holy Spirit is exactly what Acts 2:38 tells us it is, a gift. When we receive the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues it is evidence of Jesus making a home in our lives. In the middle of hurt and pain, we now have Jesus as our conscience guiding us. We believe that the Holy Spirit is active in the world today. Being filled with the Holy Spirit and developing the life characteristics produced by His indwelling are the privileges of all New Testament believers.

Relationship

"Greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world. " John 4:4

We believe that God is an active God and that he wants to be a part of our lives. We believe that relationship is achieved through prayer, fasting, and reading his word. We believe that relationship is lived through a life of holiness.
